The truth is how I edit pictures has changed a lot over the time. I used to use in app filters or not really edit pictures at all. But, getting into blogging world, knowing many creatives, bloggers, photographers and Instagrammers & spending a lot of time in trial and error, I’ve worked towards developing my own style of photo aesthetic.
I also realized that I am a person who likes to be on the move and work along. Depending on laptop for editing pictures was really holding me back. And more over, I click pictures with my smartphone and so I do all my editing on my smartphone and rely on it completely.
Here is a step by step tutorial giving you all steps and secrets on how to edit pictures like a pro.
How To Edit Pictures Like Pro
First of all, choosing a Insta-worthy photo is really important. Most of the time, I click my own pictures on timer mode. So to be on safer side, I end up clicking more pictures. Go through all the pictures and select the ones for editing.
Here is the one that I chose to edit. Love the composition of theis picture!! Walking on beach side, water hitting us! But all this dirt is also there. So let’s start editing!!
The first app I use is Snapseed. It is a total free application!!
Tap to open the photo in the app. Be sure to add the photo that you want to edit!!
Here is the photo I opened up in the Snapseed app.
The first tool I used on this photo in Snapseed app is Healing tool. It is a tool to erase a particular area by cloning it like the near by area. This gives natural effect on the photo instead of doll-like effect.
Here is the before and after to show some of the spots I erased using Healing tool.
Next click on Tune Image, increase brightness to 74 for a bright, clear image.
Next I click on Selective tool!! It’s a tool that helps in enhancing specific part of the photo. Move up and down to select Structure and increase it by 50.
Next I chose Details and increased structure by 40 to give more sharpness.
Once satisfied, click the export and save the photo.
Editing Pictures Using Adobe Lightromm CC:
Next I add this to Adobe lightroom app.
Open lightroom app, click on the little photo icon on down right corner. Select the photo from the Snapseed folder.
Now click on the All Photos, click on the photo recently added to be edited.
Now click on the Color option and click on Mix option. Click on blue color and decrease the hue by 33 and luminance by 24. This gives a good blue color to the sea which otherwise was very plain.
Next I like to use some preset to give some punchy detail to the image. Click on the preset option and click Punch Detail option.
Now that I am satisfied, will click on the three dots on upper right corner and click on save to device option.
Tada, our final photo is here!! See below for the before and after!!
