Increasing summer heat is affecting so many things in our life. One of the those are our lips. Here is a 3 step lip care routine that I follow and recommend you as well for beautiful soft lips.
Lips tend to get dry, chapped and loose it’s beauty just like other things over a span of time. If failed, chapped & dry lips can start paining. And also not look pleasing. This also tends to cause low confidence levels and makes us mentally cautious.
Beauty lovers following strict skincare routine and splurge on skincare products, often tends to forget these small things in their routine. It is important to take care of lips as you take care of your face and other things. I have also written a detailed post on my skin care routine and hair care routine.
So let’s look into steps that you need to follow for pink soft lips.
The 4 Step Lip Care Routine You Need To Adopt Now
Step 1 Remove makeup: First step is to remove any makeup that is on your lips. For this, you can use a makeup remover like Maybelline Clean Express Total clean makeup remover. This removes makeup very smoothly in two swipes and is not harsh on skin as well. Have done a whole review on Maybelline Clean Express Total clean makeup remover in my post.
If you don’t have makeup remover and are looking for a DIY method, then use coconut oil. Coconut oil removes makeup completely while giving in moisture to the skin.
Step 2 Cleansing: Removing of any excess makeup, oiliness, dirt is the second step. Use a mild cleanser like Himalaya cleansing milk using a cotton pad in circular motion.
You can also use raw milk for the same purpose. This is easily available at home and is great in removing excessive oil, sebum, makeup and dirt.
Step 3 Exfoliate: It is very important to exfoliate your lips just like your face for soft, smooth and supple lips. This step is to remove dead skin cells and dry skin. There are many lip scrubs out there like Forest Essentials Lip Scrub in cane sugar and Juicy Chemistry lip scrub ( many variants).
There are also many DIY lip scrub recipes to make at home. Also, keep in mind to exfoliate only twice a week and not over do it.
Step 4 Moisrurizer: The last step is to moisturize your lips. This is the essential part of the routine. This is to give back all the moisture that lips have lost in the process. Apply a good amount of lip balm on lips and let is get absorbed. This step will leave your lips feeling soft, supple and smooth. Relieve any itchiness and provide essential vitamins.
I personally love The Body shop lip balms. They are my favourites and also love Lakme lip love. Lakme lip love moisturizes lips and also gives a hint of colour to it. You can also make it at home.
Tada!! Your recipe to healthy lips is here. Now get out there and #kisstheworld.
Some additional tips for healthy lips:
- Do not pick your lips. This will only make them bleed, dry more and cause you pain as well as discomfort. Instead apply lip balm and let it work. Also, you can scrub the dry skin as said earlier.
- Do not lick your lips. When you feel that your lips are dry, the very first thing you do is licking your lips. This might give you instant relief but dry out the lips even more. Always carry lip balm with you to moisturize lips as and when required.
- Use SPF. Yes, our lips are also vulnerable to sun rays same as facial skin. There are lip balms with spf infused to protect lips from harmful uv rays. The Body shop lip balm contains SPF in it. It is a win win situation here…yay!!
- Ingredients are important. Always look for ingredients on the label of lip balm. Choose natural ingredients and essential oils over chemical ones. Avoid any parabens in your lip balms.
